Everyone is creative. Everyone is an artist. Don’t forget it. Are you an artist in the way you creatively raise your children? Are you an artist in the way you creatively make meals? Are you an artist in the way you creatively arrange your room; your personal space; your dreams?
Too many people convince themselves they’re not “artistic.” Don’t forget: Life is art. Look at every flower, tree or sunset…pure creativity in action.
The way a baby throws his or her food off the high-chair, staining the floor with beautiful fruity colors—that’s art. And it’s done with pure abandon and instinctual creativity.
Some of the greatest undiscovered masterpieces were made by 2-year-olds smearing blueberries on the wall.
Think about it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
The way you artfully kiss your significant other in a new, creative way…this is art.
The way you creatively deal with any problem in your life and find a new, inspiring solution. That’s creative.
Now, you can also be creative in the “arts.” Everyone is. Everyone can draw something. Will it be a Picasso or a Rembrandt or a Basquait? Who cares?
Expressing yourself creatively is an end in itself. It’s ultimately for you and your own personal satisfaction.
Everyone can plunk a piano and come up with beautiful melodies. You just have to give it a shot. Learn to silence the “it’s not good enough…” voice in your head. Who determines what's "good" or "bad" when it comes to your life?
It’s all in the act of “doing.” More doing. Less judging. See where it goes. You might discover talents you never thought you’d had.
Nike says it best: Just Do It.
Put that pen to paper. Say what’s on your mind and in your heart.
Get out the song within your bones. Play that guitar, piano or harmonica.
Bang a drum and find your own deepest groove.
Just be creative and feel how creativity permeates every cell and every molecule in the universe.
And try not to judge yourself too harshly. We’re taught at a very young age to paint inside the lines. Follow the rules. Stay safe. Follow guidelines and make sure you get the highest grade on all of your work. Check all the right boxes on all your multiple-choice tests.
Paint all skies blue and all suns yellow…
Well, maybe as the Grateful Dead said many years ago, “The sky was yellow and the sun was blue…”
Stay Creative. Only you know what works best for your life. Only you truly know what makes your heart sing.
Even if it’s just creatively arranging the thoughts in your head, so they don’t bump into each other too much and mess up your inner peace.
